D.J. Espinosa has produced several independent short films since he began documenting his work and travels in 2002. His works include:
Mexico America (33 min.), a cross-culture comedy chronicling Espinosa's adventures in southern Mexico and reflections on a quest for a truer multicultural identity.
Blunt Trauma (29 min.), a fast-paced exposé revealing the plot to undermine Medicaid and social services for the poor in Missouri, as told by an unrelenting group of small town leaders.
Show Mo' Love (44 min.), a romantic and comedic documentary about a young bi-racial couple's shotgun wedding and the unruly Midwestern family that surrounds an inevitable ceremony and reception.
Espinosa has a diverse cultural heritage with roots in the Southwest, Midwest United States and Mexico City. He has spent several years working as a community organizer in Latino and low-income communities throughout the United States.
It Takes People to Get Things Done is Espinosa's first feature-length documentary.
